The Free-Spirited Young

"cuz we won't be the young ones very long..."

it didn't seem to be that real not too long ago, that indeed we will all grow up and not remain the young ones anymore.

when i was young, i was happy cuz i didn't know.
when i was young, i was happy cuz i couldn't know.
when i was young, i was happy cuz i didn't have to know.

now that we have all matured, we have learnt to see things in a different perspective. we all have been thru some tough times and in our own ways, we've learnt to take em on even though things may not result in what we hope.

love has taken on a very different definition.
when i was a young child, i used to harbour hopes that my mr.right will be some cute & handsome guy, bearing a resemblance to my idols at that time.
when i was a young teenager, somewhere in between being a grown-up and a kid, i used to rush things, thinking that mr.right would just have to be someone i gotten along with.
when i was a true teenager, i hoped that mr. right possessed all the attributes that i wanted, somewhat like ticking against a grocery list.
as i approach adulthood, i m not too sure of who's my mr.right or whether mr.right would even come true one day.

i was talking to a long-time friend last nite when he broke the news of his break-up. to my astonishment, i wasn't surprised. it was not becuz i expected them to. sadly, it was becuz break-ups, quarrels, extra marital affairs, divorces and all seem overly common nowadays to fuss over them. i guessed i've numbed myself from all these painful events that might take place becuz i m afraid to get hurt.

my friend then went on to ask me why he didn't he hold on to her or why isn't he still fighting for her. i contemplated for awhile and i've realized... it's not cuz he didn't love her. but we've all grown up...we've learnt to know when to let go and how to let go. We're probably tired from all the fighting within ourselves.

More importantly (and though disastrous as it may seem), i think that in today's society, love has taken on a different role in our lives, love has taken on a different definition, love has lost its touch.
