I Think I've Got a Problem

i need to get this outta my chest...

can u imagine someone else calling your boyfriend, dear?

you might think he has succumbed to the temptation of cheating on you, or you may think he has probably fallen victim to a modern flirtatous woman.

in a way, to your relief, you find out that it is neither.

yet to you utter disbelief, the person is his mom!

i've choked upon this many times and yet there's literally nothing i am able to do about it. i've got no issues with displays of affection and love between a parent & child... but if your child's grown up and probably getting a family of his in the years to come, it's probably the time you learn to let things go and let your baby boy grow up into a man.

every time my eyes chance upon those words, i get a real twitchy feeling in my heart. a lump of emotions that i'd probably never be able to put into words. and i m starting to wonder... if the problem lies with my inability to accept or is there some kind of weird problem somewhere?

maybe it's the fact that i've been brought up in a family where we were told that boys should always be treated like men. even my lil' bro whom we all love, dote and pamper, is starting to be treated like a man. Gone are the days where we call him darling or baby, we call him by "Bro" or "Ryan" nowadays. My mom calls him "son."

i wonder if he grew up being called dear... or was it only in recent years that this expression of affection developed. i wonder if his child would hear his grandma call his dad - dear. i wonder if this is an issue or it's just me...

i feel uneasy. pls shed some light on me!
