Pampered Lil' Princess Speaks...

it's been a long time since i've last written something over here. here am i, in fulfilment of my dear audrey's wish for me to pen something. hahz.

let me account for my absence in the blogging scene. i've been overworked, lethargic, tired out, burnt out... *thinkin' of more excuses. basically, i jus had problems collecting my thoughts and was just plain lazy. heh heh.

work has been pretty ok. there are added responsibilities and with them, come a tremendous amount of stress. it's always not easy, to meet up to the expectations of others and to do carry out work for the sake of others. coming to think of it, whenever we set out expectations for ourselves and fail to achieve it, it's always easy to let it pass. simply because we are solely accountable to ourselves for our own actions. we can give ourselves a million reasons and yet accept them even though they might seem like nonsense in the eyes of others.

i strongly advocate... it's your life. you live once. live it the way you want. at the end of the day, just account to yourself. you belong to you. period, ain't it?

the OLYMPICS has arrived. and me being the pious sports viewer that i've always been, stayed up to watch swimming till 2am. it was not a wasted night awake. the mens 4 x 200m freestyle relay was the climax, in which, the Americans reigned. i guess the part that touches me most about sports is the instant where winners go up to the podium to receive their medals or trophies. behind that few minutes of personal / national / team glory, seeing the nation's flag being flown up high and listening to the national anthem played before a stadium of spectators, lies years of hardship and training. i wonder what goes on in their minds for that few minutes on the podium...
  • for the more patriotic ones -- doing their nation proud?
  • pride -- i mean, how many of us could actually get a medal in a worldwide large scale competition?
  • tinge of sadness -- that for all that they've done, it's all over in just a mere few minutes!
  • personal achievement -- that at their deathbeds, they leave behind a legacy and proudly proclaim, they've done something great in their lives before.

the best part about sports, it can even drive a man made of steel to tears. that's the power of it. it's so impactful to see into the eyes of a man, tearing, biting lips yet beaming with joy. human emotions are just so simple yet complex.

"the door is narrow, many will try but will not succeed."

how often do we human beings choose to do things that are to our convenience and selfishness? how often do we lend someone in need a hand? how often do we sincerely trust and share? and when we realise that we probably have done something not so right, or ignored something due to our selfish reasons, we give ourselves many excuses to ease our conscience. how often do we come across someone who needs a donation and walk away because in our hearts, we try to convince ourselves that we too are broke and 'need donations?' how often do we see someone in need of a seat yet our butts just refuse to move because inside, we try to tell ourselves we deserve to sit after a long, dreadful day? it's easy to do a little from day to day and eventually, make it our lifestyle. but do we even have the will to start? the determination to carry on and make it our way of life?

it's not easy... it's not impossible.
