My dad wrote this as an ode to my brother. Obviously, lil' ryan boy wont understand a single word in here, nor comprehend the meaning. but dad's heart goes out to him, and till the day where ryan boy grows up and able to understand, i'm sure he'll be as touched as me. with a heavy heart, i'm copying it out here. tender, loving words from dad to his son.
When U're Comin' Home Dad?
There were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while i was away
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When u're comin home dad?
I don't know when, but well get together son
You'll know we have a good time then
I called him up just the other day
I said "I'd like to see u if u don't mind"
He said "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time."
I've long retired, my son's moved away
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you.
And as i hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me.....
An ode to my favourite son, ryan ignatius seow.
